Eligibility Requirements

Students interested in transferring to the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) must meet certain eligibility requirements. To be eligible to transfer to UCLA, students must have completed at least 60 semester or 90 quarter units of transferable college coursework and earned a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.4. Additionally, all transfer applicants must have completed the seven “UC transferable” courses, which includes two transferable college English composition courses and one transferable mathematics course.

Additionally, UCLA requires that all international transfer applicants must have completed two semesters or three quarters of college coursework after the completion of secondary school. International transfer applicants must also have received a baccalaureate degree or equivalent from a foreign institution before transferring to UCLA.

Transfer Credit Evaluation

Once a student has been accepted to UCLA as a transfer student, their college coursework will be evaluated for transfer credit. The UCLA Office of Admissions will evaluate a student’s previous coursework to determine which courses will transfer and which courses will not.

In general, UCLA will accept up to 70 semester units of lower-division coursework taken at a two-year college. Additionally, UCLA accepts up to 14 semester units of upper-division coursework taken at a two-year college. Courses taken at a four-year college or university will typically be accepted as long as they are college-level courses.

Transfer Advising

UCLA offers transfer advising to help students plan their coursework and understand the transfer process. Transfer advisors provide assistance with academic planning, major selection, and course selection. They also provide resources to help students with the transfer process, such as guidance on how to prepare for the UCLA transfer application.

The UCLA transfer advisors also provide assistance with understanding the transfer credit evaluation process and how to transfer credits from other institutions. Additionally, they can help students understand the UCLA transfer student requirements and provide guidance on how to complete their UCLA transfer application.

Transferring to UCLA can be a challenging process, but it is possible with the right preparation and resources. By understanding the UCLA transfer requirements, researching the transfer process, and utilizing the resources offered by the UCLA Transfer Center, students can make their transfer to UCLA a successful one.
